This site aims to help teachers and educators
to Break the Silence that continues to surround
the story of the enslavement of Africa that began
over 500 years ago. It includes thematic, accessible
briefings on different aspects of chattel enslavement,
lesson plans and resources for classroom teaching,
activities for young people and a uniquely in-depth
exploration of some of the people and places in
Africa, the Caribbean, Americas and Europe that
tell the wider story of chattel enslavement and
its abolition.
